Empowerment CHILDREN’S RIGHTS As of September 2023, only 35.5% of elected members in local bodies are women. 1 While we celebrate an increase compared to previous decades, this percentage is very low considering that women represent more than half of the global population. The objective of Preschool to Politics is to empower young girls to be involved in the formulation of policy and politics. By familiarizing girls to terms such as policy from a young age, they will feel confident and prepared to take on leadership roles in our future communities. Preschool to Politics provides a step-by-step guide and information on how to write basic policy. This project is divided in two stages determined by the age of the participants: 1) 5- 8 years old: while participating in dynamic and collaborative activities, girls will learn about the policy process, democracy, and its importance for their communities. 2) 9- 12 years old: with the use of a flowchart, girls will be encouraged to write a basic policy draft.
