Gender inequality in Australia can change and change starts with us!
Gender inequality in Australia is an undeniable reality. Gender bias begins early in life, as evidenced by the SBS Australia Report (2017) which shows that 98% of girls feel unfairly treated compared to boys. Sexism is pervasive and negatively affects young women's experiences in schools. Unfair bias permeates all corners of our lives, whether at home, at school, or at work.
The Status of Women Report Card 2023 reveals a gender pay gap emerging immediately after graduation, reflecting the need for urgent action. Discriminatory attitudes perpetuate gender inequality and must be addressed through educational reforms and awareness campaigns.
We must address the root cause of this issue by challenging sexism in schools and teaching our children to not only recognize but also actively counter gender bias.
Together, let’s ensure that gender equality becomes a key part of the Australian education system.
Have you experienced sexism and gender bias in your life?
We urge them to prioritize gender equality as an essential aspect of education and guarantee that every student is given the tools to not only fight back against gender bias but also actively build a generation that sees gender equality as the norm rather than perpetuating sexism.
Let us help our kids grow up in a world without sexism. A world without sexism is not only beneficial for our children but also for the entirety of humanity. By promoting gender equality, we strive towards a fairer world where everyone can benefit from equal opportunities and rights.
